Treadstone® R1 Sound Mat utilizes our new rigid soundmat Technology. This advancement provides a robust and stable foundation for the underlayment and ensures proper installation. Properly installed mat’s seams are tightly abutted and taped together using Formulated Materials soundmat tape. Treadstone® R1 Sound Mat’s innovative shape addresses the issue of compressible mats, ensuring long term durability and performance.

Loading the floor to the point where this compression is possible will most likely cause more damage to the subassemblies than the underlayment itself. The building may well come down before the underlayment moves. Unlike typical monofilament mats, The R1’s rigid structure also resists localized compression under the weight of small point loads. This compression reduces the dead air required for proper sound attenuation and increases contact surface area between the mat and the floor, resulting in a reduction in acoustical performance. The new R1 easily supports these loads from common items like loaded cabinets, refrigerators, washers, and other heavy appliances and furniture, ensuring that they will not impact acoustical performance.
